Hei Ming Cheng, Founder and Chairman of KaiLong Group, has been appointed Chair of China Mainland for the Urban Land Institute (ULI), an interdisciplinary research and education institute with more than 45,000 members dedicated to leadership in real estate and land use and creating thriving communities worldwide.
Hei Ming Cheng has more than 30 years of real estate experience and has extensive experience with ground-up real estate development, real estate investment, fund management, business consulting, commercial banking operations, liquidity, and interest rate risk management.
As Chair of ULI China Mainland, Hei Ming Cheng will lead the Executive Committee and focus on three key priorities:
· Expanding local engagement, especially within the local developer community
· Expanding the focus beyond Shanghai, to Beijing, Chengdu, GBA and other cities in mainland China
· Enhancing content offerings, and creating a more cohesive community, through organising more interactive events, producing more and varied types of quality content and through further encouraging knowledge-sharing and networking
Hei Ming Cheng also hopes to establish formal Product Councils, where industry leaders meet, exchange ideas and share best practices. And together with the China leadership team, he hopes to conduct more Advisory Services panels that will provide strategic advice on important land use and real estate development issues.
ULI China Mainland regulary holds impactful events on topics related to land use and urban built environment. ULI’s events draw influential real estate professionals from a wide range of expertise including real estate development, investment and financing, architecture and urban planning, construction, law, and strategic consulting.
“It is an honour and a privilege for me to be invited to be Chair of ULI China Mainland,” said Hei Ming Cheng, Founder and Chairman of KaiLong Group. “China is a huge country with many big cities. Finding effective and efficient ways of growing ULI’s activities and contributions in the country will be a big challenge but promises to be immensely rewarding. I hope to build on the past and to build an organisation that real estate professionals will continue to find value from and be proud to be associated with.”
“We are delighted that Hei Ming Cheng has accepted the position as Chair of ULI China Mainland,” said Nicholas Brooke, ULI Asia Pacific Chairman. “China is key market for ULI, not only in the region but globally, and I can think of nobody more qualified for the role.”
