ULI Shanghai: Design, Planning and Construction Forum - TOD to COD
Transit Oriented Development has been an often-used concept in urban planning while COD as in Community Oriented Development is a relatively new concept. Whereas TOD focuses more on leveraging the presence of a transportation node such as train or subway station, airport or highway, to increase the value of the nearby properties often through increasing density and having a mix of different uses, COD focuses on improving the quality of life for the residents and those who use the buildings and the neighborhood.
